Suitcase Rummage

Suitcase Rummage

Where: New Acton Precinct, 15 Edinburgh Avenue

If you like markets but hate straining your eyes looking over dozens of giant tarps for goodies, then Suitcase Rummage is for you. Suitcase rummage is a mini scaled market; it has everything a normal market does except everything for sale will be in a suitcase.

So come along and enjoy the selection of vintage, artwork, clothing, books, jewelry, shoes, records, music, cards etc. If you want it, you can probably find it at the Suitcase Rummage

Mad Max Road Warrior

If you can’t get enough Mel Gibson or you love George Millers work then head to the National Film and Sound Archive to watch some of Australia’s most iconic films.

German Film Festival

When: Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th

Where: Palace Electric Cinema, New Acton Nishi, 2 Phillip Law Street City

Experience a bit of German culture with the German Film Festival. This is the 15th year the festival has been running and is the largest German language film festival outside of Germany.

There are a variety of films available with at least one of them sure to appeal to even the staunchest American movie lover.

Mount Stromlo Observatory

When: Saturday 26th 10 to 11:30am

Where: Mt Stromlo Observatory, Mt Stromlo Road via Cotter Road Tharwa

Experience wonderful views and learn about one of Canberra’s oldest buildings on this free walking tour. The site has been around for over 100 years and you are sure to learn something new even if you have been before.

The tour will be cancelled if there is rain on the day and bookings are encouraged to secure your spot.

Canberra Olympic Swimming pool

Family Fun Day at Canberra Olympic Pool

When: Sunday 27th 10am to 2pm

Where: Canberra Olympic Pool, Allara St

This Sunday the Olympic pool will be opening all of its outdoor pools for everyone to swim in. The pool will have all its dive towers open for high splash fun or for Olympic diving aspirants looking to get in some practice.

There will be a barbecue, jumping castles and face painting if water isn’t your idea of a good time. So come down and have a great time with the whole family this Sunday.

Canberra Railway Museum

Kingston Miniature Railway Family Party Day

When: Sunday 27th 10:30am to 2:30pm

Where: Canberra Railway Museum, GEIJERA PL, FYSHWICK

Unleash your inner child this Sunday by having a ride on both steam and diesel powered miniature trains. Have a great time with your kids or just feel like a giant in a tiny train whatever suits you.

Entry to the museum will be free so you can walk through old trains and learn about Australian locomotive history in between rides.
