$7.8m National Disability Scheme detailed

By 13 March, 2013 0

ACT Minister for Disability Joy Burch outlined the plans for the National Disability Scheme today.

“From July eligible ACT residents with disabilities or mental illness will be able to apply for one-
off grants that may be used in a variety of ways to improve their quality of life,” Ms Burch said.

“These grants may be for aids and equipment or other services that reduce the impact of their
disability, improve independence and increase participation in community activity.

There will be two rounds of grants; one in July and one in September 2013. The grants will be
available to eligible ACT residents. Eligibility and grant allocations will be assessed by a panel
of disability and mental health experts from ACT Government, the community sector and
consumer representatives.
