Durban – Brumbies rugby forward Shawn Mackay is in a Durban hospital after being hit by a car following his side’s Super 14 loss to the Sharks in South Africa.

Latest reports are the Shawn is coming out of his coma and responding well.

On the news tonight, they said they were fusing his spine (no more footy for him, even in the best case scenario) tonight, then bringing him out of the coma, and then they’ll find out if he’s paralysed or not. What a rotten thing to happen. I hope he’s not paralysed.

For those of you on Facebook a group has been created to show your support for Macca.

I believe it was created by a die hard Brumbies fan shocked by the news.

I’m useless at html but the link is:

There’s a possibility of paralysis, according to ABC News. Shocking stuff 🙁

ACT Brumbies forward Shawn Mackay has a broken neck, a broken leg and multiple facial fractures after he was hit by a car in Durban yesterday.

OMG !! This is such a tragedy…. Positive thoughts are out there for him. He is such a sweetheart !

Rugbyheaven have it as well. Indicating that it was actually an armoured car.

And now put into a Medically induced coma.
