1. Kambah Kidnap:
- A 47-year-old Kambah woman and a 29-year-old Queanbeyan man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow each charged with kidnap, forcible confinement and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The woman will additionally face a charge of allegedly allowing a domestic dog to attack a person.
This follows an incident early this morning where police received information about a 30-year-old man allegedly being assaulted and held against his will by a group of people at a residence. Around 5.20am, SRS Tactical Response officers and Police Negotiators attended an address at Kambah, established a cordon and commenced negotiations with the occupants.
About 5.45am an alleged female offender was arrested after leaving the residence. The 30-year-old man was then released from the house suffering facial and other injuries from the incident.
A short time later, an alleged male offender surrendered to police peacefully and was taken into custody.
Investigations are continuing to locate three others who may have information about the incident.
A search of the house following this incident uncovered a suspicious item in a rear shed. Officers from ACT Policing’s Bomb Response Team attended and assessed the item. As a precautionary measure residents in the street were evacuated until the area was declared safe.

2. Alleged child sex offender arrested in Civic:
- ACT Policing has charged a 23-year-old City man with child sex offences following a number of alleged incidents this year.
Police were informed of the alleged offences by an 18-year-old man and his 13-year-old brother. Police then executed a search warrant, yesterday (Wednesday, May 13), of the alleged offender’s home during which he was arrested and a laptop computer was seized.
Police will allege the 13-year-old male had been in regular contact with the offender during which time the offender engaged in indecent acts with the youth.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, May 14) charged with two counts of engaging in sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 16 years.
