It all depends on what you are after.
Most nightclubs are either in the City or Manuka with a few decent bars scatted throughout the suburbs.
There are usually no cut off times for getting into a venue unless you try to get in just before closing (the ACT has a 5am restriction on serving alcohol but many close before then).

You might have an hour or two up your sleeve at hippo or knightsbridge in the city.

otherwise… just go home unless you like your late nightcap with an extra serve of dirty dirty bogan.

Cube is open til 5. And the floor is busy til then.

Cube is also a Gay night club. Just in case you’re straight and that puts you off. Better to know in advance. But so long as you’re not a dickhead, and enjoy a dance, it’s still fun.

Liberal voter in cube? I would have thought you’re far more likely to see a Labor voter there, with Andrew Barr being their pin-up boy.

Hot clubs depends on many things like the music you like and the demographic you belong to. The majority stay open to about 4, though I have seen some close off parts at about 2am if it’s a slow night.

Depends on what you’re into. If you’re into waiting in a massive line for a club full of bogans and under age people. Academy is good if you like hardstyle music, really nice looking club though. Meche is good if you like RnB and ICBM is another bogan club but a bit more fun than Mooseheads. UniPub is good for a bit of everything and being 4 story’s you could easily spend an entire sat night there. They are the big clubs, I wouldn’t really recommend any of the others unless you are into their particular style. As for bars, Hippo is awesome. Real nice and they often play really good music. Tongue N Groove is also really good, but hard to get a spot in there. There’s a crap load of clubs, just go out and have a look around.

Yes, but unless you’re on some type of drugs you’ll feel out of place in Lot 33.

Everyone has different opinions on clubs- I really don’t like academy. I’m not a huge fan of Mooseheads when it’s busy but as a poor uni student I tend to go there for the cheap drinks.
Cube is good when they don’t discriminate against ‘breeders’ (as they call straight people).
I personally love Kremlin Bar.

Most peoples opinions are based on stereotypes, personal experiences and preferences (as that’s what opinions are), so go out and have a look. For “late, late” night clubbing Lot33 in Kingston is open ’til the sun rises Friday and Saturday – However, as mentioned by theloz, it used to be full of drug addicts. Having said that, the demographic of people that attend Lot has changed a little as the popular style of music moves away from rnb/hiphop/other crap usually heard at most places in the city. They also seem to be bringing in the biggest names of all the clubs these days with Pang! promoting there.

But, I’m usually frequenting Academy, UniPub, Kremlin or Hippo bar. Head out and have a listen/look for yourself, make up your own mind, and soon you too will be stumbling through Canberra’s “dangerous” city precint with a drunken stupor.

Hi Guys – Thanks very much for the replies. Lots of help. I don’t really care what type of music places have (tend to block it all out) just looking for a few places to chill, and well, i ain’t sleazy, but meeting girls also. I hope that i haven’t offended anyone.

i’ve never been to lot33 myself but someone was telling me they went to that location the other weekend and it’s something new now. maybe just rumour. anyone else know? i don’t venture southside anymore for my nighttime entertainment.

Once again thanks for the replies – but 1 more question please. What are the best / biggest nights in civic and kingston. are Fridays better than Saturdays or is Thursday night good too?

I agree with most of the above comments.

Lot 33: Reputation for having lot’s of drug addicts. I know people who have a good time there – although it is uh ‘their kinda scene’.

Cube: If you are not a homophobe and are open minded, these people know how to party. You could almost do anything there and nobody will judge you for it.

Krave: AVOID.

Yeah and then of course you have Academy, Mooseheads (kinda bogan), Meche (rnb) and all those places. They are decent.

@ Kitchen Cat – Kennedy Room night life is pretty good, Nice mixture of people. Aged 20-30. But you do get the 18-19 year olds making their appearencec (probably streaming in from Lot). Noticed some eye candy behind the bar the other week. Make sure you keep an eye for that Good music, good service.
