There’s also a sign just opposite the BP at Jamison pointing towards the Turkish Pide House and Dumpling Inn that simply says Happiness. I’ve tried to follow the directions but I’m still feeling empty inside
Mixed feelings. On one level it’s kinda fun and whimsical and on another it’s bordering on graffiti and littering justified by being art, and the potential of some of the activities wasn’t entirely thought out (eg chocolate coins, hot day, melting, attracting insects). I found this comment worrying. “The problem with a lot of my projects is that I just walk away and leave them, and I never know what happens once my back is turned.” Apparently this event or project finished on the 5th, so when the weather has taken its toll on the mdf street signs will the remnants be left to blow around the streets? I’m sorry I sound negative about it, it’s probably just pushing my personal buttons regarding not leaving consequences for others to fix up. Some of the pics did make me smile. Some nice ideas, and it must have been a lot of hard work. As long as no tree branches were damaged (I AM GardeningGirl after all) I think the giant dice are my favourite. Would have put a smile on many weary workers faces as they ventured out in search of lunch I’m sure. Or maybe the bubblewrap . . . I mean who can resist bubblewrap?
Another comment on the blog. “I did take the banner down myself though – I was very uncomfortable with the idea of leaving it there unsupervised.” Really glad to see that, and I wanted to mention it as it somewhat changes the views expressed in my earlier comment. I guess I should have read it ALL first but I’m busy and distracted tonight. I guess it says something that I’ve spent so long on this one thread when I only meant to have a quick look at the site tonight.

It points to the Turkish Pide House – what don’t you get? Happiness *is* found there… anything with ‘pide’ and ‘pizza’ in the same title works for me
…awww, warm and fuzzy…I wish they were for me
there’s one on the round about that goes into kaleen 2 that says sing and has a music symbol.
looks like its done by the same people
Haha! The prophets of Macquarie! Well done, those signmaking people!
It could cause mayhem on the roads if people actually comply.
We should start a grassroots sign civil disobedience movement…
Feel the lovin’ canberra…
it’s all a part of this thing
and it seems to have worked!
I’m still not going to Belco.
Thanks for that link yeshe, I’d been wondering what the deal was with the one in Evatt.
Surely it is all illegal though? Especially if you don’t go back and take all the signs down.

Looks like more public art to me!
How wonderful. Makes me feel inspired to…
Nice one. I had seen the love speed sign. Little random bits of fun.

…but then, I’m not hard to please, to be blunt…
I saw one along Aikman Drive saying “Right way, Keep going” or something like that.
