Does anyone know how clean / useable the waste water is from an evaporative air conditioning unit? I’ve got my unit draining into a 600 litre tank which then goes out onto the lawn. It doesn’t appear to be killing the grass, but then again the lawn ain’t looking that great either.
Would the water be safe to use on a vege patch?
Appreciate all views on this one!

the levels of salts in the waste water can be quite high. Not recommended for gardens in my opinion.
However some of the newer ducted models allow the water to be dumped more often and this will drop the level of salts in the water.
the new units i.e – less than 2 yrs old is ok for vegies. Older units – No.
I asked the installer the same question and that is what he told me.
Too high salt content.
I wouldn’t want to use it in a vegie garden. It may not kill the vegies but i don’t think it would be beneficial either.
The water itself is very salty but as the quantity is small (about 20 litres per dump) compared to your tank, it is probably diluted enough to be safe.
Agree with the comments on the high salt content. Mine gets dumped into the rainwater tank and diluted before use.
Drain the water into large flat trays and leave them in the sun. Sell the salt.
I’m not too sure on this one, but I wouldnt be dumping it on a vege patch if I were you because you will end up consuming traces of it, and are’nt they linked to leginaires(sp?) disease?
