End of an era at CityNews?

Gossip has reached the bunker that CityNews’ iconic and highly controversial lynchpin, Jorian Gardner, could be off to be the News Director at WIN’s Canberra operation.

With his focus on local politics and the arts it’s probably a good fit, although it will be fascinating to see how the people skills work out.

Confirmed in the Today section of the Crimes today. It’s one of those things you could see it going really well, or really, really badly!

    Iconic?

That’s one word. Probably the one he would use to describe himself.

Wow – I am seriously amazed. Considering they sacked Geraldine Nordfeld for trying to actually report on ACT govt issues, why are they now hiring someone who has a lot of form in criticising the govt. Not to mention Jorin’s loose cannon tendencies.

    Interesting times!

Like a rat up a drain. Watch out for his coverage of the next year’s Folk Festival, if he lasts that long.

    Iconic????

I think this will be a disaster. The City News is read by 40,000 people a week.

Win is watched by that and more every night. He’ll have to hit the ground running.

    And Geraldine wasn’t sacked.

She left, like she is the Canberra Times which interestingly, never got her off the back page.

    There’s a sign of faith.

Political reporter taken off political reporting? Very close to sacked.

I gather she’s moving on from the Times as well, but that’s also gossip.

I think the Chief of Staff position is only a maternity leave contract too while the current Chief is off producing offspring. It is a bold move to give up a permanent job for only a temporary position.

Geraldine was iconic at the Canberra times. It’s a pity she is leaving.

Jorian,on the other hand, is a loose cannon. I give him 3 months.

I thought Geraldine was good for the Times too. And people have gone on to be political reporter from that back page gig. I was expecting that to happen really. I hope she got a better offer.

And I am sorry for indicating that she was moved on from WIN when she wasn’t. I do remember a lot of fuss about her losing the political reporter gig during the election.
