Loadedog has a obituary for Ali Parraga, best known to the denizens of Civic as “Silver Man”.

“Today we bear the sad news that Ali Parraga, pictured above dancing to Cicilia Kemezys’ flute, passed away yesterday morning. Many will recall Ali as the ‘Silver Man’ who busked in Civic for many a year. Attendees at January’s Backyard Backanalia will recall his performance with greater poignancy I’m sure, knowing, as we now do, that it was his last.

For those wishing to pay their respects; the memorial service is tomorrow, 27 February, 10am, at Tobin Brothers Funerals, 75 Canberra Ave Kingston.

Many moments of curious, thought-provoking and puzzled observation were inspired by this wonderful guy…

RIP the Silver Surfer.

One less mime – sad, but not sad

Bonfire, I’ve never before heard that dancing causes lymphoma. When did that one get discovered?

Well the Maths would probably have finished him off earlier, bonfire. It nearly killed me – and that was at school.

‘He gave up the Maths to persue his music and dancing more seriously.’

good to see that worked out for him.

This makes Jey sad.

I went to uni with him, he was studing Maths while I was doing Engineering. Didn’t know him that well but he was a nice guy. He gave up the Maths to persue his music and dancing more seriously.

I had to think for a while to work out who he was. I worked in Civic for most of my early working life, and he was there for a lot of it, just standing there.

Lymphoma, but non-hodgkins.

I remember looking at him busking in Civic, painted silver, and thinking “all that paint cannot be good for you”.

I gather he developed hodgkins disease.
