to my knowledge a few people within the ACT chapter of the Aust Democrats were looking at doing something like this last year. Obviously not having any seats doesn’t help. maybe if a miracle happens at the forth coming ACT election we might see it raised as an option. Or should another party get a footing they could have a look at the concept – given the last thread CAP comes to mind…

As a semi-Melbournian this stuff is pure crap and a similar project should would be appropriate for the ACT. Read a little bit and it does not look at the big picture.

Ports are still the Port of Melbourne – the only solution is to develop outside Melbourne ie Hastings and Geelong to reduce heavy vehicle flow in Melbourne.

Canberra has Prof Troy who is quite cluey but ignores his wisdom.

We definitely believe a project such as futuremelbourne.com.au could work in Canberra. The decision to use a wiki to produce the City of Melbourne’s next 10 year plan was based on the fact that the project has been developed using a collaborative model.

Rather than 5 or 10 strategic planners sitting in isolation to produce the plan, we have collaborated with a diverse range of stakeholders, our project partners, City of Melbourne managerial staff, the general public, as well as our Reference Group which is comprised of prominent Melbournians. The wiki was a natural fit for a process that required such a diverse range of inputs, and as far as we can tell, this is the first time in the world that a local government has enabled anyone, anywhere, to directly edit the content of a city’s strategic plan.
