The Herald Sun has a beautiful photo with their story on efforts to keep safe our new Prime Minister.
By refusing to move into The Lodge here in Canberra (sitting idle and empty at a cost of $12,000 a week) Ms Gillard raises the age old question of serious personnel protection: “Where are the guards going [...]
In the Canberra Times John Thistleton is raising fears that a tiny part of the newly created harbour at Kingston will not be accessible to the public.
The work will remove a 3m-wide access path around the harbour edge on Kingston Island, which contractors developed from reclaimed land in a $31 million project.
”The proposed harbour [...]
Hello All,
Was wondering if any one has any ideas for me to do for a date night?
Doesn’t have to be pricey and can be a bit lame as long as it’s fun!
Thanks!

Taking the wife out for some birthday nosh and was after some reccommendations for the top eateries in Canberra.
I know this type of post has been done before, but was after some current info.
Not fussy about the style of food, but just want somewhere that can guarantee quality.
Places we’ve been to recently and enjoyed are [...]
You know the ones: Intersection of Northbourne Avenue/Cooyong St/Barry Drive. Started as one and has multiplied to almost every corner of that intersection as well as in Dickson.
Here’s what most people would describe happens in this situation (ie. Chain of Events A):
1. Motorist pulls up at a red light.
2. Hard-done-by-windscreen-cleaner-guy lifts his cleaning wand to [...]
According to the Crimes Jon Stanhope spoken in support of Brodburger, ”I support the Brodburger location, the van, the service they provide and it’s enormously popular. The people of Canberra are certainly voting with their feet and their stomach.”
The NCA, too, is happy for Brodburger to stay operating from their current Bowen Park location provided [...]

There has been a lot of interest around town as to the whys and wherefores of the “Things Have Changed” ads running on late night TV promoting the sides of Canberra normally only recorded here on RiotACT.
AlexCoble has come to the party, youtubing it, and posting this explanation:

Anyone seen a TV advertisement about Canberra recently? (I think it was on GO! FreeTV). I thought it was a novel way of looking at us – gritty and urban – and want to follow up with the Agency. It was themed around Canberra changing and had good cityscape shots.
Heading down to Brodburger tonight I was dismayed to see a sign on the little red van that they have been told they will have to leave Bowen Park by the middle of next year.
They have started a petition so if you have had a good burger from down there or just like seeing lit [...]

Tomorrow, Wednesday 14 October is National Ride to Work Day. As one of the most cycle friendly cities in Australia, I’m hoping to see Canberrans out in force on their bikes tomorrow. Personally, I’m planning to cruise to work on my “fun” bike (long travel, freeride mountain bike). It’s [...]

Since April RiotACT has had increasing amounts of chatter surrounding the Brodburger.
According to legend a master of Kitchen Stadium and his restaurant partners had been wiped out by investing in mortgage backed securities and forced to wander the earth making sublime burgers in a caravan, eventually coming to rest, somewhat in [...]
That Gungahlin landmark and favourite haunt for Gungahlin nightowls is back.
The G-Spot reopened a couple of weeks back – same location. Apparently the Lakes club asked operator Andrew Dale to reopen.
The hours are better too, allowing families to indulge too: Wed 6 pm to 12, Thu 6 to 1 am, and Fri/Sat 6 to 3 [...]
Driving past late on cold Canberra nights I’d seen those caravan fairy lights. In their faint glow between the trees they half-illuminated a mystery. What could possibly be keep all those people standing out there in the freezing cold by this forgotten corner of Lake Burley Griffin?
I reasoned it must be some illegal gambling setup [...]
Driving beside the lake down Kingston way last night, just before the Old Bus Depot Markets, I noticed a food caravan has set up shop right near the shoreline.
How long has it been there, does it have a name and, most importantly, is the food any good?
