A Labour of Love— Celebrating Landcare in the ACT is a new book being released as a part of the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival. It’s launching today

Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell, has today joined local Landcare volunteers in celebrating the useful contribution they make in conserving our beautiful natural landscapes.

“The work of these volunteers is often not given the recognition it deserves. A Labour of Love— Celebrating Landcare in the ACT is a new book highlighting the extensive work our local Landcare volunteers do to ensure our natural environment is maintained well into Canberra’s future,” Mr Corbell said.

“This project was funded through an ACT Government Heritage Grant of $10,000 and reinforces the importance of on the ground conservation and partnerships between public land managers and volunteers to sustain the values of these places.

“The Southern ACT Catchment Group has collated the history of the Landcare movement in the ACT and this book is a wonderful way to celebrate the invaluable voluntary work they do to care for our beautiful natural and historic landscapes,” Mr Corbell said.
