Chief Minister Andrew Barr and Minister for Health Simon Corbell will attend a partnership event at Abode Woden today to celebrate the partnership between Abode Hotels and the Canberra Hospital Foundation that will ease the burdens placed on families of patients receiving care at nearby Canberra Hospital.

The Canberra Hospital Foundation supports families that find themselves away from home while they support a loved one receiving treatment, including through providing accommodation.

Abode Hotels is proud to support the Foundation with the donation of a two-bedroom family room that can accommodate up to four people for extended stays.

Managing Director of GEOCON and Abode Hotels, Nick Georgalis, will hand over the room to the Foundation in a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Minister Barr, Minister Corbell and Canberra Hospital Foundation Chairperson, Deborah Rolfe.

“This is one way in which we can help our community by assisting those visiting loved ones who are sick and in hospital and away from home,” Georgalis said.

GEOCON and Abode Hotels are passionate about giving back to the community and appreciate finding ways to do their part.

“There is arguably nothing more stressful than having a loved one in hospital and we look forward to welcoming many guests who unfortunately find themselves in this difficult position and hope to relieve some of that stress,” Georgalis said.
