One imagines it is with some relief that Katy Gallagher has announced her health system has passed the accreditation process of the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and is clear to keep on truckin’ for another four years:

“These are excellent results and I am especially pleased that the assessors identified no areas in the ACT Health system that required high priority action to address concerns,” Ms Gallagher said.

The Minister said four-year accreditation was awarded to organisations that had reached a high level of achievement and was an acknowledgement of the hard work and commitment of staff in ACT Health to provide a high quality health service to the people of the ACT.

And it seems cleanliness wasn’t assessed either, as TCH is filthy. The floors, stairs and walls don’t seem to get much of a clean. I would have thought a hospital should be spotless.

Did they neglect to assess the needs for long term mental health patients? There is nothing in the ACT to support these patients or their families.
