The ABC has a story on moves by ACTEW to take the water services and 300 staff from ActewAGL and set up Actew Water.

From July 1, water will again come under the corporation with a new body trading as Actew Water.

ACTEW Corporation managing director Mark Sullivan says the change will make the water provider more efficient.

“We know water in terms of price is going up and we want to be responsible and accountable for putting as much downward pressure as we can,” he said.

“We see the way to do that is to be more efficient. To be able to look at factors other than straight profitability in terms of operating the water business and over time we think people will see a difference.”

Mr Sullivan says the partnership with ActewAGL has been successful and will continue to thrive.

The full speech explaining the change is available online.

Geez, that was a bit cynical wasn’t it?
Then again, this is the mob that lost over $50 million of ratepayers’ money in TransACT and then said their $4 million surplus share of the iinet takeover was “a tidy profit”

When you want something to be broken you send in Mark Sullivan. ACTEW yes must be about time he was back to the ‘A’ departments again been a while since ATSIC.
