Allegedly stripping Zimbo Ambo back in the news

Zimbabwe’s Radio Voice Of The People has the intriguing news that their controversial Ambassador Jacqueline Zwambila is facing further accusations that she sexually harrassed her staff here in Canberra.

With all of this you need to bear in mind that most of the embassy staff are favourites of Robert Mugabe and Ms Zwambila’s appointment was part of the peace deal with the rival Movement for Democratic Change.

Thanks Skidbladnir – I learned a lot more than I expected to checking out this post.

And despite my last comments re: stripping ambassadors, it turns out exposing breasts and screaming is something of a Zimbabwean cultural display of female protest and directing shame at people (at least according to this Zimbabwean forum thread (see bottom of page, below the horse statue). Seems we have Zimbabweans paying attention to RiotACT also…)

I think that this sounds like an absolutely fantastic method of protest and shame directing. I’m thinking particularly of the effect it could have on our political system. For example, what would our parliament be like during question time if Mr Abbott really upset the PM? Or if Wayne Swan got up Julie Bishops nose? Or Bronwyn Bishops?

Overall, despite that last example, I think it’s something to be encouraged.

Wow has anyone got the movie rights to this.

Suspicion is that this whole shebang is being provoked and fanned by the Australian-resident Reason Wafawarova.

Who is he?
A 44 year old Zimbabwean national International Communications Masters student at Macquarie University, education and accomodation allegedly paid for by the nation of Zimbabwe.
Was at one point the focus of a campaign by Natasha Stott-Despoja hoping to have the children of Zimbabwean regime leaders deported, or at least investigated by the Dept of Foreign Affairs, as they were subject to various sanctions and suspected to be in violation.

Son of two Mugabe loyalists, father was a Mugabe trade union leader, uncle was a ZANU-PF leader, Mr Wafawarova is himself an ex-ZANU-PF politburo functionary, ex-Mugabe Ministry of Youth Development (ie: the Militia) power broker, once holding “one of the highest roles in the Ministry”, further nurtured by Mugabe after being de-appointed after the MDC-T shared power, now lives in Sydney as a ‘Political correspondent’.

Basically buys ink by the barrel on the international market, all for the glory of MugabeZimbabwe.

Writes as the ‘Australian correspondent’ for quite a few Zimbabwe national papers and is either only ever supportive of Mugabe or attacking his critics and their families, his paper articles get rehosted variously around the web under slightly different names. (eg: Zimbabwe Metro, The Zimbabwe Herald, Zimbabwe Guardian 1, 2, Zimbabwe Eye, etc).

Everything he writes on his own website is anti-“imperialist forces in Zimbabwe”, highly critical of anyone who does not support Mugabe, or some kind of politicla theory lesson on why Zimbabwe needs to get rid of the MDC-T.

This is his latest print article on the Ambassador problem.

I have no idea about the legitimacy of the “butler in the bedroom” scenario, but suspect it doesn’t hold any water. If she gets recalled I doubt we’ll ever hear of her again.
My money is on either cholera or a lead overdose.

Go you good thing!!!!!
