Australian National Capital Artists Inc is hosting its artist-made brooch/pin exhibition. This annual exhibition has been exciting Canberrans since the 2011, and this year looks like it will be a corker.

Opening on Wednesday 30 April at 6pm the exhibition will go until 11 May at the ANCA gallery at 1 Rosevear Place, Dickson.

Participating artists this year include Ampersand Duck, Jacqueline Bradley, Rebecca Hinwood, Christina Thwaites, Marisa Molin, Steven Worthington, Heike Qualitz, Sarah Farquhar-Still, Robyn Hodgkin, Alison Jackson, Lia Tajcnar and Sui Jackson.

According to gallery manager, Annika Harding, “the concept of reducing scale and honing in on a wearable, miniature platform appealed to artists from a broad range of practices such as sculptors, printmakers, painters, silversmiths, photographers, wood-workers and glass artists.” The results, she believes, are both accessible and intimate.

My tip is that many of the beautiful pieces are sold on the opening night, Wednesday evening so I recommend getting there early!
