Do you like disturbing gender roles? The ANU Anime Society has announced that we’re playing host to Australia’s big Anime bash:

MEDIA RELEASE
For immediate release

ANU Anime Society hosts Anime.AU.12 convention.

The ANU Anime Society will be hosting Anime.AU.12; an anime, manga and gaming convention in the Manning Clarke Centre at the Australian National University on Saturday between 9 am and 5pm on the 11th of August 2012.

The convention will have many events including a cosplay competition, games, art competitions, anime screenings, trivia quiz, auction, dance workshop, a talent quest and much more. Japanese anime will be shown in three screening theatres sponsored by MADMAN entertainment.

One unusual event is the live troll dubbing competition. Teams devise a new script for scenes taken from well-known anime, then perform that script live. The results will be hilarious.

The cosplay competition is one of the outstanding events of the convention, where fans wear costumes and accessories associated with a character from anime, manga, games, comics or films.

Last year’s convention was a lot of fun so we thought we run another one this year. Seeing all the cosplayers is definitely a highlight.

There will be a few vendors at the convention selling anime, manga and gaming related materials.

Tickets will be priced at $15 per person, $10 for children under 16 and a special family price of $30 (2 adults and 2 children). Tickets are available online. Please go to the convention website http://anuas.org/animeau12/ for details.

The event is sponsored by MADMAN entertainment – an anime distributor in Australia.

Queue BLEACH fanboys who will be making noises at such convention to demand its (anime) return.

It’ll be fine. I didn’t notice any at SMASH a few weeks back, so I can only assume they either moved on to other shows or just started reading the manga.

Queue BLEACH fanboys who will be making noises at such convention to demand its (anime) return.
