Another fire in the Diamant

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire in a clothes dryer in a hair dressing salon and day spa at Block B of the Acton heritage building, Diamant Hotel, Edinburgh Street, New Acton.

ACT Fire & Rescue has partially evacuated the area of approx 30 people as a precaution whilst crews carry out air monitoring and ventilation operations.

Crews notified following an Automatic Fire Alarm at 11.29am.

Two fire pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus Van, the specialist Hazardous Materials Unit and a command vehicle.

Fire damage contained to the dryer only with some smoke damage and smoke logging to the remainder of the three storey building.

ACT Fire & Rescue has completed operations and are due to depart the scene shortly.
