The Australian National University (ANU) is today, Wednesday 28 August, 2013, conducting a hazard reduction burn near the Mount Stromlo Observatory, Stromlo.

The ACT Handy Map grid location for the burn is I13.

Temporary smoke cover may occur.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory
and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay
inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their
medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.

Saw this coming across Coppin’s Crossing Rd just now, and wondered what the smoke plume was (looked like grass smoke, so figured it was probably a HR burn).

Would have taken a photo, but was on the bike. The plume is going straight up a couple of hundred metres, then heading south and sinking down and forming a layer at what I imagine is the same height all the wood heater smoke is sitting at today.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke.

They also recommend that if pounding your head with a mallet causes pain that you should stop pounding your head with a mallet.
