There are stacks of things happening Streetside this April, with music (opera! world! Russian folk!), comedy, new work, and solo performance to whet the artsy appetite.

Right now, we have legendary Aussie actor Max Cullen channelling ‘the poet of the people’, Henry Lawson, in his solo work FACES IN THE STREET (on Tuesdays – Saturdays til April 24).

On Sunday April 18, we’re hosting the tantalizing Tartar stylings of ZULYA AND THE CHILDREN OF THE UNDERGROUND, who bring their beautiful, bonhominous sounds with them to promote their new album Tales of Subliming.

Tuesday and Wednesday the 20th and 21st see CO-OPERA touch down with their production of LA BOHEME. They’re an amazing force in Australian opera, with 20 years history of touring opera to regional and remote areas of Australia, providing opportunities to see opera to folk who don’t usually get em!

That same week, we greet Scots comedian DES BISHOP who will perform for four nights from the 22nd to the 25th as part of his MY DAD WAS NEARLY JAMES BOND tour.

Then we launch our MADE IN CANBERRA season with local writer Emma Gibson’s new work LOVE CUPBOARD. It opens April 29 and runs for five performances til May 2.

FINALLY, we have the amazing guitarist/ethnomusicologist BOB BROZMAN coming for a one-night-only performance. Check out Bob’s stellar CV at www.bobbrozman.com. He’s playing at the Street on Friday 30th.

PHEW. Hopefully we’ll see you at one of these performances! For details on any or all of the shows just call us on 6247 1223.

Peace,

Naomi

I highly recommend ‘Faces in the Street’: it was fantastic!
