Joy Burch has today welcomed Argyle Community Housing to town.

A new community housing provider has entered the ACT social housing sector, with the ACT Government today handing over 52 units for older persons in Conder to Argyle Community Housing Ltd…

“Argyle has an established track record in quality tenancy and asset management spanning over twenty years, and their staff have worked with Housing ACT’s Gateway Services to identify and support existing public housing tenants to relocate into this complex,” Ms Burch said.

The 52 units are among 297 units for older public housing wanting to downsize being built at eight sites across Canberra under the Federal Government’s Nation Building program to build new public housing dwellings.

“By relocating older public housing tenants who want to move into these new properties we will be helping Housing ACT free up larger properties to house more families more quickly.”

Ms Burch said Argyle’s entry into the ACT goes to one of the ACT Government’s objectives of growing the territory’s community housing sector while continuing to provide rebated rent to persons on low incomes.
