Work on the $288 million Majura Parkway extension halted last week after Canberra-based construction company Hewatt Earthworks entered into voluntary administration, according to an article in the Canberra Times.

It remains unclear when work will recommence, however civil construction company Fulton Hogan have expressed their commitment to completing the project on time and within budget despite the withdrawal of the earth-moving contractor.

Fulton Hogan have confirmed that all Hewatt machinery has now been removed from the site.

Hewatt Earthworks were also engaged by the ACT Government on the extension of Horse Park Drive, with work on that project now at a standstill.

The extension of Horse Park Drive in Gungahlin will connect local residents with the Majura Parkway once completed.

In addition to the Majura Parkway contract, Hewatt Earthworks is estimated to owe the ACT Government around $600,000 of work on other projects.

Err, has it? Someone should have told the guys I saw working on the site this morning. I think what you’ll find is some work on the Parkway has stopped and by the end of this week it’ll be going again.
