Asbestos at Kingston Foreshore

The Land Development Agency has sent a letter advising of asbestos found on the island part of Kingston Foreshore.

This is particularly interesting as it wasn’t that long ago all the soil in the island was dug up from somewhere else and deposited there to form the island.

Is there a corner of the ACT that hasn’t had the stuff dumped on it?

I’m sure it’s much better asbestos than ordinary people have.

I don’t think there is asbestos on Reconciliation Place – its too full of pistol bullets!! I ran a metal detector over the area between the mound and lake and found a handfull – all of different calibres. I’d be more concerned about exposure to lead dust whenever they have a festival on the site. It would appear the fill came from a pistol range.
