Nice smooth concrete or tarmac for inline skating?

Nice smooth concrete or tarmac for inline skating?

Does anyone know of somewhere with smooth concrete or tarmac so I can practice inline skating? I’m after somewhere with the same smooth surface as the numerous underground carparks around the city. I’d use the carparks but dodging cars is no fun.

Network Ten reception or rather lack of it?

By 14 May 2013

Is anyone else in North Canberra having trouble with Network Ten reception?
Neither Ten, ONE nor 11 are coming through properly and are pixelating badly. Last week reception was perfect. This week; awful.

A sad story about blu-ray player/recorders in Canberra.

By 8 September 2011

If I didn’t laugh, I’d cry. A week ago we had an MTV set top box connected to an old cathode ray tube tv and a pretty old rabbit ear antenna. It all worked pretty well despite the set top boxes inability to tune in some of the newer digital channels; Go and Gem come [...]

Public transport from the airport. Is there a worse Western World capital?

By 28 August 2011

Deane’s are about to pull the plug on their airliner and there’s no Action buses going through Brindabella Park on the weekends.
I wonder if there is another capital city in the Western World with a similar lack of transport to and from its’ airport?

That staple of the club menu, the seafood basket. Any decent ones out there?

By 15 March 2011

I’ve plucked up enough courage to admit yes I like a good seafood basket.
Trouble is I keep looking for that Shangri La of seafood baskets which probably doesn’t exist.
Has anyone had one lately worthy of praising it here??

Can anyone recommend a day spa for the older woman?

By 19 October 2010

Mother’s birthday is approaching and I’d like to get her some type of spa or day retreat type treatment. Can any of you recommend  a decent place in Canberra?
BTW she’s in her mid sixties.

Closure of the Hub Asian grocery in Belconnen. Any reason why?

By 5 August 2010

Supposedly the Hub has closed in Belconnen.
Anyone have any inside knowledge as to why?

Boo! Hiss! Galaxy nightclub doubles its admission price

By 1 September 2009

Five dollars isn’t a bad price to pay for some cheesy 80′s memories, but ten dollars is too much to charge for entry in to what is a mediocre place.
For those of us who grew up in the 80′s and haven’t stopped partying, it’s one of the few places which isn’t full of people young [...]

By 9 June 2009

I’m planning an event and need a mobile disco to provide entertainment.
Have any of you got any recommendations or warnings about local mobile discos and their DJs?

A brilliant magician and entertainer

By 11 May 2009

I’d like to give a big thanks to Ausom Powers (Chris Vevers) for his show on Saturday evening.
He mingles with the audience performing some amazing tricks.
If you’re having a party he is well worth booking!!

Interesting topic on the 7:30 Report; should the Australian War Memorial have a section devoted to the conflict between aboriginals and the 18th century Europeans?

By 27 February 2009

I suppose some aboriginals would consider that they are still at war with white settlement.
[ED - The transcript is online. Perhaps if this could be offered in exchange for packing up the tent embassy?]

Can anyone suggest a decent employment agency?

By 21 February 2009

After living it up in London for a decade I’ve decided to come back to Canberra.
Can anyone recommend a decent employment agency or advise which ones deal with which gov’t departments?

Any suggestions for a decent used car around $3500

By 16 January 2009

I’ll soon be returning to Canberra after a decade away and, due to ACTION’s dismal services, I’ll need a used car.
I dunno whether to go for a cheap Commodore or Falcon or something small, 4 cylinder and Japanese.
I’m also considering a high km ex taxi from interstate taxi firms.
Any suggestions?

New tourist attractions for Canberra and environs?

By 5 January 2009

Ok we have Summernats, Floriade and the Food and Wine Frolic but we’ve lost the V8s and the birdman rally.
Lets have some ideas for new and exciting festivals that Canberra could host to bring in the tourists.
