Just got this rather interesting email from the Triathlon ACT mailing list. Obviously a disgruntled ex-employeee, some interesting things raised though:
UPDATE: Thanks to LegendLee for pointing out TACT’s response, which some might read as a bit of a mea culpa.

Foxsports are reporting that Rocky Elsom has agreed to join the ACT Brumbies from next season, knocking back much higher offers from the NSW Pansies & the Queensland Reds. Fox are saying (& with some justification) that The Brumbies are looking like a powerhouse team in the comp next year..boasting players like Smith, Giteau, [...]
According to Foxsports, Julian Huxley is seriously considering a return to The Brumbies ranks one year after brain surgery.
He certainly has some spirit. Would be quite handy to have him back playing, considering the departure at the end of the season of Mark Gerrard.
I hope he makes it…great player & [...]
Change is in the air. The Just Bands list of Canberra venues is both incomplete, and now….out of date.
Things have changed, or are about to…eg. The Green Room, which for years has been our better venue, is about to go the way of the DoDo.
So…where to play/watch bands play? What are the hot [...]
Just Bands is reporting the very sad news that The Green Room will close its doors for the last time at the end of October.
Issues with their landlords/owners of O’Sheas are listed as the reason for the closure.
[ED - AGAIN?]
Just Bands has this post from Paul Sweeney (ex Liquid) about a possible reunion/Camp Quality fundraiser for Finnigans, the classic Canberra music venue in the mid/late 90′s. A fantastic idea. If you or someone you know were part of a band that played at Finnigans, please get in touch with Sweens if you’re [...]
Just Bands are reporting that Corinbank is go for next year (2009). Great news, fantastic to have a festival like this continue in the area. The longer it runs, the better it will get & from all reports Corinbank was a great festival this year (its first year).

Another new MR review over on Just Bands, this time they check out the latest installment from the Caught In The ACT Canberra compilation series.
The Masked Reviewer (MR) caused quite a stir with a series of often scathing reviews for Just Bands. They then went AWOL for a year or so…reported to have been travelling the world in search of new ways to insult bands. The MR is now back….I’m sure nastier than ever, here is the [...]
Just Bands has had a look at some of the major parties policies as they relate to local live music. Oddly enough, one party doesn’t seem to acknowledge that the arts exist in any form, but for the others…we’ve listed their main points & linked through to their full policies.
The team (well, me) at Just Bands have finally found some time to work on a new version of the site & it’s now available. The new site features a much improved gig guide, better formatting & will be updated more regularly with local music news & reviews. Check it out.. Just Bands

A spooky night of fright this Tuesday (tonight!) @ TOAST with Little Smoke, Quagmire & Once Divine.
Jammin’ for Justice runners-up Little Smoke (along with fellow locals Manilla Green) are supporting recent Rove house-band & owners of the fanciest website I’ve even seen…
Featuring great bands Spoil, Dubba Rucki, Crave, Little Smoke & The Variodivers…..the final of Jammin’ for Justice is at the ANU Sat 7 October.
The week has arrived, Little Smoke launch their latest single “Skins” on Thursday night (6 April) at ANU. Doors open at 8pm, entry $7 or $5 for students.
Support on the night will be provided by two bands currently ripping it up on the live circuit….Super Best Friends & Dahahoo. One of the best local lineups going around.
It’s been a long time between drinks for local band Little Smoke. They’ve finally managed to record some new material…
Killing two birds with one stone early April, Just Bands will be re-launched into the world, combined with the single launch of “Skins” for Little Smoke, a long time in the making, but worth the wait.
Yes, that’s right. Canberras favourite online source of local music information, gig dates, news & reviews…is back…sorta. OK…so the site isn’t quite what it used to be yet, but I’m working on it….& at the very least, you can now re-register as a user & get used to the new config a bit…RiotACT [...]

Infectious pop band Atlatl make a rare appearance tonight at Red Gecko in the city. Bands kicking off around 9.
Next week at the same venue…another rarity of late…Little Smoke.
For all you lovers of local music news…Just Bands is STILL dead I’m afraid. Arrrrrggggg! Serves me right for using a feww hosting service I guess. Anyway…to keep you from going mad, I’ve written a brief review of Friday night at The Green Room…

NSW Rugby, not content with having severed ACT Rugby development at schoolboy level (having dumped ACT Schools from the Waratah Shield comp) have now gone one further & once again booted the Vikings from the Sydney rugby comp.
The Pot Bellys annual celebration of live music in Canberra “Pop The Pot” returns this weekend. Loads of bands from 4pm, only 3 entry…lineup:
