Found this morning living in an infrequently used subaru. Anyone know what type he is?
Also, anyone want to fix my head gasket problems for me?

Over the last few weeks many large precast spans have been delivered and parked on John Gorton Dr (traffic being diverted via the service rds) near the point where it currently connects with Uriarra Rd.
I assume the assembly of the bridge will take place soon…?

Wandered past this Saturday at Belconnen markets.
So, with Better Place gone tits up, do these things still work? Are there actually any current users?
It looks like we at least got something for our money, assuming ACTEW was a secured creditor and will get a cut of the wind up?
The AFP were making use of the recently boarded up Alexander and Abermarle Buildings in for training again today. I wonder where they will move to when they are finally demolished?
I took note today specifically, as there were at least five similar landcruisers decked out with the unmarked car lighting, bullbars, roof-rack’s, and [...]
While rolling down the GDE this morning (yes, I know it isn’t really an extension anymore, but GD doesn’t sound as good) I witnessed a scene I shall now describe (as I was operating a motor vehicle and couldn’t use my camera).
Parked on the ample verge, at 90° to the roadway, was a ute with [...]
A couple of mornings ago these two sites appeared at Coppins Crossing. Do you think they might be related?
[Got an image of Canberra you want to share with the world? Email then it in to email@example.com ]
This morning, as I wound my way through the various road work on the Coppins Crossing Rd – Uriarra Rd – Cotter Rd route around the new suburb of Wright, I came up behind a B double which (when the red light changed to allow us through the roadwork) had some trouble negotiating the route. [...]
Spotted these from the pushy yesterday morning, stopped to take a photo today.
In the park behind Lyons shops, two well constructed shelters, although no sign of actual habitation.

This morning, whilst driving to work like all the other mugs, I passed the turn to onto Coppins Crossing Rd, which I would normally take. Coppins Crossing is closed due to the level (or potential level of the river). This was to be expected. In fact, being a low level crossing which frequently floods, [...]
Right about here, where William Hovell Dr passes under Caswell Dr, a large pothole has opened in the lane turning to head south on the Parkway. After passing this pothole (and narrowly missing it, even though the traffic was very slow), I then counted no less then six cars stopped with flat tires.
Hi all. I am looking for recommendations (or libelous comments, humorus anacdotes, etc) concerning podiatrist services in Canberra.
A family member is looking for ingrown toe nail related medical attentention, and no one has any specific experience.
Below are some photos taken outside Alexander Building in Woden. The AFP use this from time to time for training, as seen before.
This time however, parked with the AFP vehicles was a Chevy Minivan. It looks like a Chevrolet Express.
This caught my attention as I don’t think they were ever imported into [...]
Two fire trucks, two ambulances, two fire brigade 4wds and at least one police car at the IP australia building in Woden.
Anyone know why?
This photo was taken on Uriarra Rd looking south toward Cotter Rd (map).
As you progress along the road you pass a sign telling you that you have entered a roadwork zone, and that the speed limit has been reduced to 40km/h. Then you come to where the photo was taken, at which [...]
On Tuesday afternoon I rode for the first time across the new bridge which is part of the upgrade/redevelopment of the Cotter Road as part of the new suburbs being built north of Duffy and east of Mt Stromlo.
The new bit of road is connected to the old road with some temporary surfacing which [...]
While going for a wander to catch some fresh air at lunch time, (and with a camera in my pocket wondering what new stencil art may have appeared), I came across these little fellows sunning themselves.
Now, this isn’t the first time I have seen these guys. I couple of weeks ago, I [...]
The ABC is reporting that Todd Carney has been exiled from his home town on account of being a tool.
I’m not sure I recall such a ruling as that for anyone else.
Carney appeared in the Goulburn Local Court yesterday and received a 12-month suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to damaging property…
The NSW [...]
Actually, it looks mostly out, but there is several Police and ACTFB vehicles in attendance.
[ED - Looking forward to seeing a police media release]
UPDATED: Ari’s noted that the Canberra Times has more on this:
A witness said an ”extremely violent” fight broke out between two men in the middle of the shopping arcade about [...]
The ABC have a story that the Summernats are feeling the pressure of a slowing economy. The part of the story the caught my specific interest was at the end,
“I don’t want to end up in a situation where I’m really, really squeezed and I have to consider either, worse scenario, moving the event to [...]
Canberra Times has a story with a front page picture today on the underneath of Canberra. It is a pretty generic story about drain exploring in Australia, which they have made a half hearted attempt to connect to out fair city. It is a shame that they didn’t try a bit harder to [...]
I missed this report in the Canberra Times on Sunday and Monday.
“Widely loved and respected in Canberra, where she was born more than 99 years ago, Heather Shakespeare died early yesterday morning.”
I came into contact with Heather Shakespeare through her support of Scouting (as did many in the ACT) and I know that she will [...]
Or so i just heard via e-mail. Anyone know how bad it is?
A project which is not going ahead. Is it as simple as the company deciding that the site wasn’t perfect, or were they scared off by the sound of nimbys wielding bananas?

So, I have two issues to discuss with this post;
1: “It’s just too close to people’s homes…..
Don’t really think that anything has changed since last time, other then the decision makers in Defence have realised what it would cost to move them.

It appears that in response to people shining lasers at aircraft, the state is banning laser pointers. Does anyone know if there is a minimum strength of pointer, of if this is a blanket ban? If it is a blanket ban, then be very careful driving to Queanbeyan if [...]
After reading the resurrected “The incredible expanding War Memorial” thread the other day, I was driving past the AWM’s facility in Mitchell, and there does appear to be, in the yard out the back, a V2 Rocket . It is amazing what is lying around the city that you don’t know about until it [...]
