The latest Liberal Party junk mail campaign has taken a curious step.
Earlier this week, I found a letter from the libs in the post.
In addition to the usual vacuous and worn out lines, I was surprised to see Zed make a desperate outright request for donations.
This went as far as including a small [...]
Thanks to google, I stumbled across this aerial shot of Canberra. The image was part of an article written by a German architect, with an interesting outside view of Canberra’s development.
Looking west from somewhere over Red Hill, I guess the shot was taken in the mid to late 70s. Woden is still half a paddock, [...]
Recently I spotted this bizarre and slightly disturbing “art” next to a bus stop along Flemington Rd. The head reminds me some sort of kids sketch character, although I just can’t think of what specifically.
There is some cranial resemblance to Stewie Griffin too.
Like the Belco owl, this bit public art looks somewhat childish…
I checked the mail last night to find a mysterious A5 envelope from Malaysia. Half expecting to find white powder, there was merely a brochure and two “scratch tickets” for something called Vista Odyssey.
Not surprisingly, the first ticket revealed a second prize of USD $160,000. “Thank you Thank You” was behind the other ticket.

As spotted deep in the bowels of the Gungahlin town centre… the ability to park within the white painted lines!

The NCA is doing yet another review, this time into Canberra’s open space system. If you like walking/riding/etc around the Canberra nature parks, or going further afield to Namadgi, you may want to provide a submission.
Details are online:
“The National Capital Authority has begun a discussion about the National Capital Open Space System.
What do you like [...]
Whilst in Gungahlin, I noticed there has been extensive illegal dumping around Anthony Rolfe Ave. It took one really wide angle shot to get the sheer amount of rubbish.
Builder dumping looks quite profitable & it probably doesn’t help when they are doing it in the middle of the day when most (?) people are out.
A family member was rear ended some time ago, sustaining whiplash. Recovery took around six months, including about 6 weeks off work etc. NRMA obviously wants to close the books now, so general damages negotiations are expected to start soon.
Obviously, NRMA want to close the case as quickly & cheaply as possible. We are trying [...]
The image is a follow up to the recent “Crace – A place like no other” post.
Behold, a terrace floor plan with the toilet tastefully opening into the kitchen!
The shot is from a poster on the wall. Floor plans used to be available on the Crace website, but appear to have been taken down.
The terraces [...]
I’ve just moved into the Gunghalin area, which now means sorting out a new mechanic. I was looking for someone who can handle servicing etc & LPG rego inspections for a dual fuel Ford falcon. I was warned (~2 years ago) by one LPG fitter that there were a few dodgy operators about…
Any suggestions or [...]
