I recently acquired an antique ivory cane, however the head has detached from the stick. The head is basically a rounded knob and the stick is hollow inside but filled with a transparent yellow resin substance which I assume holds all the ivory together. I want to reattach the head and possibly add in a [...]
Recently I found one of those common garden skinks wandering around my laundry and decided to catch it, I have a terrarium in an old fish-tank and was thinking about keeping it there.
But first I would like to know whether I can keep it I have heard that for NSW at least you need [...]
Well it seems the cyclist/motorist debate is starting to liven up again so I thought I would add some fuel to the fire. Around 12pm on Friday I was riding on east on the path next to hind-marsh drive where it goes under the parkway and when I got to the pedestrian crossing across the [...]
So having not been swooped by a single magpie this season so far (even the one vicious near the Woden underpass seems to have retired), I’m surprised at how aggressive the Mynas have been instead.
Walking around the ANU where there is an abundance of Mynas I was being swooped left right and center.
I [...]
Some people may know that there is a dirt car park at the base of black mountain on the corner of clunies ross street and black mountain road, for years I have been parking there and walking in to the ANU to avoid the hassle of parking on campus, never have I seen any no [...]
So I was riding through Woden interchange on my way to the bus and I noticed a whole lot of teenagers hanging around on the steps playing music and such, pretty standard occurrence “don’t these people have anywhere better to gather” I thought, as usual.
But then I noticed there were a whole lot for [...]
Hello RiotACT, I was wondering if anyone knew any good (cheap) places to have the nails of one’s dog clipped.
I was thinking of going to the local veterinarian (in Weston creek) but I heard that I can simply go to a dog groomer and I thought that this may be cheaper since they specialize [...]
Over the past year or so the reserve that runs through the middle of Waramanga near where I live has had a road worn across it which now runs pretty much the entire length of the reserve. At first it was from tradesman parking outside 4 Gabi place to do work there, however now anytime [...]
Although it launched last year (http://www.anu.edu.au/endowment/content/news/malouf_launches_classics_endowment/) I thought I’d advertise that the ANU now offers a Bachelor of Classical Studies degree. Rather than simply completing a bachelor for arts and including ancient history or languages course this is a specialized degree that involves either a major in ancient history plus 6 greek/latin courses or a [...]
This morning at around 1o:30am I noticed the streetlights around Waramanga and halfway up the hill on the parkway heading north were all on. This seemed quite unusual as the sun was well and truly up and it was bright day. Perhaps we have too much electricity and we need to burn some off.
I have recently taken up an interest in old poison bottles and whilst perusing eBay for some, I stumbled across a closed auction for 140 old bottles, much to my frustration the auction had only ended a few weeks ago and the entire lot had gone for 99 cents.
What’s more frustrating is that the [...]
