Bach in the Puddle...

Sebastian Bach’s coming to Canberra??? Holy sh*t when, where??? THE ANU!!! Wow, I can’t wait… Well, keep on waiting mother-truckers because for those of us who’d paid our hard earned to see it, didn’t.

Sometime around soundcheck someone bumped a light in the ceiling of the refectory which set off the sprinkler system, this left the PA soaked and the venue flooded. The staff managed to clean up the mess and it looked like it would go ahead, the roadies saved the PA, then the fired brigade arrived and an electrician came a few hours later. They assessed the venue and reckoned the gig “wasn’t safe to go ahead”. CANCELLED!!!

So they’ll let Elton John play in Commonwealth Park in the pissing down rain, outdoors with all of this electrical equipment but they’ll cancel Sebastian Bach at the ANU after a tiny accident that was well and truly cleaned up before the show? I’ve seen Midnight Oil play at the National Museum in the middle of an electrical storm but they can cancel a show because of a tiny sprinkler incident??? It is just completely bewildering and disappointing.

Used to be the ANU was the place to go, so many great acts have been through that venue. And I know last nights unforseen circumstance was just that but people who are qualified event managers are trained and experienced to deal with this stuff. I was there before the bar closed when the fire brigade arrived and I saw no one manage anything, all I saw was panic and confusion. I’m pretty mad at the moment and sure maybe looking for someone to blame but I have seen shows go ahead under much more duress than this.

For those of us who are responsibility-free, cashed up and have no obligations, our tickets are valid at tonight’s show in Newcastle; otherwise we can get a full refund from ticketek on Monday. And because of this little f*ck up, Canberra will continued to be bypassed by national tours. Keep on sending that positive message to the promoters guys. Well done to all involved.

“You say it’s raining but you’re p*ssing down my back, so stop reading me the riot act” – Sebastian Bach

I know this was a while ago (well a year) but I have just found this site — AngryHenry, just who’s engineer was it that you were????

Hello – people are forgetting about the Betting ring at the racecours. Was perfect for the Hilltop Hoods at Trackside.

Yep…I got the point AngryHenry, & I agree. I was just a bit “huh?” about who the guy was..I’ve got it now.

Regardless of wether you’ve heard of him or not fact it there were hundreds of people turned away from a concert at ANU on Friday night because of a f*ck up that could have been better managed.

The point I’m trying to make is there would seem to be a double standard here. Elton John and Midnight Oil can play outdoors in Canberra in the middle of some of the biggest electrical storms we’ve seen and a spirnkler going off at ANU shuts down an event because of an apparent electrical risk… I mean c’mon… It doesn;t take a genius o figure out that the powers that be set double standards pending on the community standing of an event. This one wasn’t high on their radar so they didn’t give a f*ck about it and shut it down… And that p*sses me off…

And yeah hingo… I was their roadie/engineer.

AngryHenry. Are/were you a part of Henry’s Anger? not a bad band. I remember when the singer joined Cryogenic for a short time before they disbanded. I saw them in Sydney at Club77 or whatever that dingy underground place was. Anyway I’m getting way off topic here.

> OMFGOLLERCOPTERCHAUST!!!

Meh….I never liked Skid Row (or anything like them). Or Guns n’ Roses for that matter.

Please excuse my ignorance….but who?

OMFGOLLERCOPTERCHAUST!!!

I saw him last year supporting Guns N’ Roses. Man he has some pipes. Too bad the gig was cancelled. Fortunately enough for me, I went to see the Raiders get pumped by the Mighty Sea Eagles. I win.

Ahhhh….Skid Row.

Missed the Brisbane show so came down to Canberra for it. What a bunch of clowns.

That sucks arse. Surely an alternative could be arranged?

What we REALLY need, though, is to get the G3 concert to come to Canberra…

A community service would be to get rid of narrow minded fools like yourself and maybe Canberra would be a better place to live. Maybe we would still have a drag strip and V8 supercars. Maybe more international bands would come here. As for Bach cancelling, i still can’t believe it happened. Hell City Glamours moved their show to The Basement Belconnen to give fans something. Cheers to them. Ticket refund just doesn’t cut it for me. An rescedule or apology to the fans would be more satisfactory, especially those who had driven hours from interstate to be turned away by a security guy with a sign. Was like a slap in the face.

That sucks. I really wanted to go… oh well.

Hah! The kind of open minded attitude that makes me so proud to live amongst the rich tapestry of free thinking that is Canberra…

Or maybe Kambah Village is being deprived of an idiot.
