Baghdad comes to Canberra.

Has anyone else seen the burnout shell of a car sitting in the garden outside the Canberra House building (corner of Alinga Street and Marcus Clarke Street), just a few metres up from the GPO, in Civic?

We spotted it around noon on Sunday. I am not sure if it is a result of a car accident, or vandalism, but it looks as though it has been torched…and it really looks dreadful right there in Civic.

Any comments?

A car in such a burntout condition would seem to suggest a very serious accident indeed. There was nothing however in today’s Canberra Times about it. Hmmm. Is the wreck still there I wonder?

Could it become street art along with the package sculpture on the West Row corner, or like the laser sculpture on the ACT Department of Health building on the Moore Street corner opposite?

It was a car accident.

I saw it being extinguished on Sunday morning about 6.45am on my way home from work- I thought it would get moved pretty quick because there were police and fire there. It looked like it had been crashed into something and then torched- hope whoever they stole it from has insurance!
