ACT Policing is calling for help from the public to identify two men who are believed to be responsible for an alleged assault against a taxi driver in the early hours of Sunday morning (20 February).
About 12.15am, police were called to an address in Forde after a fare dispute.
The alleged victim had driven a fare to the house in Aida Ball Street and a dispute developed with two men in relation to the fare. As a result of the dispute, the taxi driver was assaulted.
The main offender is described as being approximately 188cm (6’2”) tall, with a large thick build. He has medium-length hair and appears to be aged in his late 30s.
The second man is described as being of European and/or Middle Eastern appearance, with a heavy-set build. He has closely cropped hair and also appears to be in his late 30s.
Both men have distinctive tattoos on their arms and across the top of their chests.
Police are requesting anyone who recognises these men or can assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via their website www.act.crimestoppers.com.au . Information can be provided anonymously.

What the police didn’t mention was that the taxi driver had his front teeth knocked out by the thug who repeatedly punched him in the head.Vision from CT of one of the offenders:

Correction,both offenders with distinctive tattoos.
What sort of mongrel would do this? I can’t imagine the fear that poor bloke felt, or the pain of having having his teeth knocked from his head. And all that for $30? Insanity.
Cowards. Anyways, should not be hard to identify these penises. That’s quite a clear picture.
they’ll be wearing turtlenecks for a while at least.
How long could this take? 1. Dropped off at a known address. 2. Paid with credit card. 3. Pictures with distinctive tattoos. This won’t require employing the services of 221b Baker Street.
Pretty sure guy Number 1′s Tattoo says “I’m a bottom” and Number 2′s says “I wuv furry dice”

And drink at the Cube?
Terrible stuff for the poor taxi driver to go through.
The story does raise a few questions though. Why is he up for thousands in dental bills? Doesn’t his worker comp cover this? Where is the ‘union’ in all this?
I wish him well.

Have any of you pitchfork wielding psychopaths stoped to think what drove these poor men to this?
What social deprivation they have suffered? Whether daddy hugged them enough?
For all you know they could have been whipped to death by violent alcoholic parents, every night from birth to the age of 30.
And “Middle Eastern appearance”, why is it necessary to raise that, that’s the institutionalised racism in society that is!
They may be the victims of economic issues, maybe their pension cheque was late.
Do you lot not know the law, it’s defined as “assault” not “beating”, if you do not know the relevant statutes how dare you have an opinion.
These men need our help.

Oh yes, they need our help.
Nothing that ‘a nice piece of hickory’ would’nt fix.

Oooh there’ll be very nasty suspended sentences and good behaviour bonds wating for these two. They should be caged for a decade or so.
I know, let’s get heavily tattooed and commit crime and get caught on camera. They’ll never catch us.
Another pair of society’s master criminals. And obviously really tough too.
One bit of good advice I received from a taxi owner I worked for many years ago, “so what if we lose $30-50 for a fare? It costs a minimum of $500 to replace a kicked in door and any dental work costs much more than that”.
Hope the driver gets better soon.

Haha my old nanna always freaked out at my tattoos and was worried what if I did something bad and could be identified by them… I was like ?_? Nanna what exactly sort if person do you think I am???
Even if the dude on the left covers up his tatts, those glowing laser beam alien eyeballs will still be a dead giveaway.
Poor taxi driver just wish these scumbags once caught then sentenced get a minimum 5 year stint in prison, if it turns out they have committed violent crimes before they should get life without release!!!
I really feel for taxi drivers they really need to improve the industry to make driving safer and give better pay and confitions!
The original fare was to transport the male on the right with 7 females from Rydges (security footage pending). Because they couldn’t all fit, the driver took 6 females (all seated in the rear and middle rows) whilst the man and the 7th female took another taxi after offering extra $$$ to the driver and obviously becoming angry that they had to take a separate taxi. Upon arriving at the destination, both men in the photo were waiting for them. After repeated declines on the eftpos from one of the females, the male on the left threw $30 into the taxi and saying something along the lines of “that’s enough, get lost”. The driver knows better than to argue with someone twice (if not more) his size and was leaving when man from Rydges stopped him and insisted to pay the difference via his Debit Card (details with police). After paying, they left. As the driver was pulling out they both ran back and Rydges bloke asked the driver (from the passenger side door) “Why didn’t you take the girls to Maccas?” before the driver could finish his sentence “because they never asked to” the male on the left sucker punched a 55 year old fragile and helpless man (from the driver’s side) while his head was turned towards the guy in the photo from the left.
The driver fled to Forde shops where Police and Ambulance attended to him. Cops then arrived at the scene (address where the drop was) and upon identifying the police, the attackers and 6 girls (confirmed by police) ran into the house. But wait, the police knocked on the door and were told to get lost and so they did. Apparently they “knew what to say and we had no authority”.
The costs are obviously going to be raised through the appropriate insurance agencies however, as this is a criminal case, until the cops bring these douchebags into court, it might not be as easy to make a claim but solicitors are looking into it. In the interim, it will have to be paid by the driver and his family so he can at least show his face in public.

To sum it up, where it states “alleged”, it’s not – it WAS them. There was also no dispute as the driver was happy to leave with less than the original fare until bloke on the right photo (Rydges guy) stopped him. Had he save himself the extra money and not stopped the driver, all 3 men would have gone about their lives and nothing would have become of it. Unfortunately, this was not the case and an unnecessary act of violence had to take place. They should be so lucky if the police get to them first.
Guy on the left is wearing a style of shirt you often see body builders and gym junkies wear. Perhaps someone should tell him man-boobs ain’t muscle.
What a pair of cocks.

Thanks for the clarification! The question is, how is it police can’t take a suspected person in for a line up at least? I assume if you break the law you can just hide in your house and say ‘go away’ and that’s now the end of the story??

Police can’t make up their own powers, they have to abide by the law. Have a look at the Crimes Act 1900 if you want a run down on what they can and can’t do. In particular, have a look at the section on identification parades (what you call a line up).
Not having a go at anyone in particular, but people shouldn’t be taking it upon themselves to release information the police have presumably withheld for a reason. The release of these details can potentially jeapordise the investigation.
My guess is these “men” will be apprehended within 1-2 weeks.
Based on those photos, its not hard to figure out where they live on Aida Ball. There is not that many building sites on that street anymore.
I think you should have kept your mouth shut.
Blurting out your side of the story while it makes good reading for us, it won’t help your cause.

So had the taxi driver remained at the house where he was assaulted and waited for the police to arrive would the police have been able to force entry into the premises and arrest the thug?
