ACT Policing detectives have seized seven firearms, three replica firearms, a large amount of ammunition and a quantity of drugs during two simultaneous search warrants in Narrabundah and Fyshwick in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, November 7).

Criminal Investigations detectives executed a search warrant at a Narrabundah residence and at a Fyshwick premises around 5am this morning.

During the progress of the search, police seized four rifles, two pistols and one shotgun, resulting in seven firearms in total at Narrabundah.

Police also seized three replica firearms and 2,000 rounds of shot gun ammunition following a search warrant in Fyshwick at the same time.

Investigations are ongoing and no charges have been laid in relation to the items seized.
Detective Sergeant Shane Scott said this is an example of ACT Policing’s dedication to removing illicit firearms from Canberra streets.

“The seizure of these guns is another win for ACT Policing and the community
however, Criminal Investigations detectives are continuing to work hard to ensure the criminals behind these illicit firearms and drugs are taken off the street as this investigation continues,” Detective Sergeant Scott said.

If you have any information which could assist police in removing an illegal firearm please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

What happens to these weapons? Do the police recirculate then so another bust and good PR can follow. it’s a bit like the big drug busts, lots of hoo ha but you never see weapons and drugs being destoyed.

There’s not much transparency in police ops. Zero confidence

They’re destroyed, they just don’t do it at public events like Floriade and sell tickets. There’s plenty of transparency in police operations. They have specific procedures, paperwork trails and people watching them. They don’t need to justify themselves to any John Q Public with a negativity complex though. That would completely undermine their authority and make everyone overly suspicious about everything and everyone leading to a complete disintegration of society as we know it.

I’m mot so sure any more. A friend just sold me the boxed set of Reno 911! and in the first episode they found 68 pounds of weed and had a party burning it.

2000 rounds of shotgun ammo? WTF? Shotgun ammo is bulky stuff. 2000 rounds would make a pile you couldn’t jump over. They must’ve watched Zombieland too many times.

Anyway, glad these weapons are off the streets. Tooled up idiots will eventually end up hurting themselves, or someone else.

No, they sell them to Armenian crime figures who use half and on sell the rest to Al Qaeda. Don’t you watch The Shield?

Each crook gets a gun and a big bag of weed when they leave the AMC, so the cops can bust them again.

Just weed and guns get recycled? What about everything else?

Police Christmas parties.

You got it in one. That’s exactly what happens. Each crook gets a gun and a big bag of weed when they leave the AMC, so the cops can bust them again.

Lol is this what the Matt Massey lovers were talking about him being set up to fail?

I have personally destroyed drugs for the police (NSW at least) – all kinds of drugs and paraphernalia.

Next conspiracy theory please.
