Big Z discovers secret plan to sell ovals

Readers with a sense of whimsy and a good memory will enjoy casting their eye over this media release from Liberal heart-throb Zed Seselja.

“What the Minister seemed to be saying is that if the ovals aren’t restored by the Government, the community will stop using them and this would then justifying selling them for a big fat profit.

It’s nice that Zed has twigged to this possibility. Perhaps he should ask his Liberal colleagues, who first hatched this plan when they were in Government, exactly how it works?

I do, however, find it amusing that the tough talking Hargreaves is once again foisting the burden of proof onto the community.

I’ll answer my own question Kerces – its due to the grandstands, fences, changerooms and everything else in it being so run down – and due to the need to find $8mill in the budget for a dragway, all other sporting facilities expenditure has dried up…

Canberra Times has ignored my letters – who is the Minister for sportsgrounds/oublic facilities and things like that anyway?

“any chance you can work on a expose on why the ACT Govt now has control of Football Park in Phillip, but yet noone is allowed to use it (lush grass, but deemed unsafe)? ”
Thanks for this tip off Growling Ferret. I will see if any of my staff are interested in working on it for the next edition of NowUC.

Most suburban “community” ovals are already unwatered and unkept – and ready for the next level of urban infill to fund the restoration of the many playing fields that are struggling under the amount of traffic they get each year…

Johnboy, love your site – any chance you can work on a expose on why the ACT Govt now has control of Football Park in Phillip, but yet noone is allowed to use it (lush grass, but deemed unsafe)?

Talk about a fishing expedition. Then again, who doesn’t enjoy a good right wing conspiracy theory?

well it is a big issue.

hits a lot of buttons.

DO I get the impression the libs are searching for issues… or even media coverage?
