The red caravan has found a new home after 2.5 years:) BrodDogs we will be located at Westfield Belconen … Top Carpark near the entrance to fernwood and outback jacks.

I for one welcome the chance to wait 45 minutes for something that should take no more than 5 minutes

I quite like the hotdogs Costco sell at their caferia thingy. $1.50 buys you a plain hotdog and a drink. Not exactly gourmet eating, but easy and cheap.

They’re the good ones that are all pork. I think they sell them in the freezer section as well. The ones I am talking about are really thick and chewy and made of beef.

Yeah, that’s called a sausage.

I’ll take a CostCo doggie over SnagStand any day (assuming the relish pump is working).

I really wish “relish pump” was a euphemism. It isn’t.

As there was no queue, I ordered a chili hotdog to take home to my husband – just for a treat. Of course, even though I don’t like hotdogs at all, I had to have a taste of it. Sensational – a hot dog I would actually eat. For me to like it at all was surprising enough – but the fact that I’d actually buy one another time is a shock! I would wait until there wasn’t a queue, though!

Is the frankfurter house-made? It’s a challenging thing to do but the taste is exponentially better than the factory jobs when done properly

No. At least they weren’t the tough thick hot dogs that Costco sell in their freezer section. They are rubbish.

Actually hot dogs can get fairly complex. I remember a shop at Woden Plaza in the 1970s called The Danish Hotdog and some of their creations were quite fancy indeed.

Snag stand does awesome hot dogs in the Woden food court.

I forgot about that place as I am on the Northside, will have to go there again. They do the perfect chili dog and chili fries.

I ate at Brod Dogs last night and was unimpressed. The fondue cheese sauce they drown the food in was not to my liking at all.

Bought two hot dogs as I thought it would be good. One is still in the fridge.

If it seriously takes them 45 minutes for a hot dog, they’ll go out of business. You have a pot of dogs, a pile of buns. You open a bun, put the hot dog and all the creative fillings inside and hand it over. a few minutes per dog maximum!

ahh, not for an artisanal dog, which will attract a swarm of hipsters cruising from braddon on their single gear bikes to work up the appetite to spend forty five minutes discussing second tier finnish football leagues. that commercial white buns and tasteless franks with big red tomato sauce and grated plastic cheese take so long is of course ironic.

or it could go out of business in three months…

I can make a hot dog in little more than 60 seconds. However, I draw the line at second tier Finnish football leagues. My betting agent will testify that their thirds are easier to make money from…

Phil the hot dog man outside the Private Bin was always good for a yarn as well as a quality hot dog. Well, as much as one can judge quality food at 2am, haha!

Jeez, that was last century.
If he was here today the fun police (ACT work safety) would close him down.

I tried out the Bros dogs van when they were at the multicultural festival.

Took them about 45 seconds to make and serve which gives them an instant million point advantage over their burger brothers.

I tried two of their offerings (for research purposes) , a chilli dog and I think it was a new York dog.
Both were very good, particularly the chilli one although they were overpriced as per the burgers. I think they’ll do alright although perhaps the location in Belco won’t support their usual hipster clientele quite as well.

Danish hot dogs @ the Plaza were great. There was also a late night van in Civic decades ago – I think it was called the “Dog House”. Great place to grab a great hot dog on the way home after a night out.

The Dog House made great hotdogs – but maybe anything would have tasted good at 2am after a night out !

The best ‘hotdog’ in my opinion will always be the charity sausage sizzle at your local hardware chain on a Saturday morning.

El-cheapo bulk-purchase snags, homebrand sauce and generic white bread, with onions of course.

The hangover cure of my generation…with the added bonus of being a Real Man who hangs out at hardware stores on the weekend!

Fancy does not equal complex re a hotdog!!!!
