Brumbies name their immovable objects

The Brumbies have announced their starting lineup to play the Western Force on Friday night at the Stadium in Bruce.

Interesting moves include:

    — Matt Toomua is the pivot at 10, with Leilifano at 12. Hopefully the two of them can really mix it up to create options.
    — The huge Ita Vaea is going to play openside flanker. So we’re trying to smash them back out of the ruck rather than worry too much about pilfering the ball from contact.
    — The twinkle toed Robbie Coleman is out to the wing back to fullback where perhaps his blistering pace but diminutive figure will work better than in the centers.

It’s an interesting looking team and if players perform to their potential they’ll win some games until other sides figure them out.

The full team list is:

Agreed, Pat to run at 13 and crash ball a-la Stirling. He’ll go well there.

Friday night will be interesting, not that we can read much into trials but it’d be a big turnaround for the Force to get over us. They probably have the forward pack to do it though.

Go the Brumbies!

Vaea makes sense. No one the brumbies have will compete with Pocock, so keeping him off the ball might be the best strategy. No surprise with Toomua. And Coleman is at Fullback, but I’m sure you realise 15 isn’t wing!

I assume McCabe will slot in at 13 when he returns. I reckon it’s probably his long term best position.
