Can anyone recommend a reliable and good quality ironing service around the Northside?

An idea of costs would be great.

Thanks.

You also have the best username on RA.

at $200 an hour I’ll do it as well. 😛

Put an add up around local shopping centres for an ironing lady.

I think Ezy Iron is the Koomarri service right? They seem like nice people. They’re on Lonsdale Street.

Emperorminge, you will have to forgive those who gave you flak. These poor unfortunate souls can’t read. They didn’t realise you were asking “Can anyone recommend…..”, they read it as “Does anyone know of any……….”

Public user recommendations aren’t found in the Yellow Pages or Google so your question here was more than warranted. Good luck.

Very good service. Linen shirts one euro 35.

I’m with you here emperorminge.

Mordd, they were asking for a recommendation … read the post! Anyone can look up an ironing service in the Yelllow Pages but that won’t tell you if they are good or not, it just shows that they can afford to advertise.

You could try hiring an old curmudgeon who has been listening to too many of those ABC/FM Classic ads where you you are pacified (ie. don’t bitch on the younger generation (in their 50s))by listening to Mozart while ironing a shirt that your partner has no idea how to …etc. etc.

Price? Bloody expensive.

Jeez, the audacity of someone who would dare to ask a question or seek a recommendation in a forum that aims to discuss local businesses! Get a grip. Anyways, thanks to those with helpful suggestions.

Try Ezy Iron in Braddon; they are fantastic

I once informed Mrs Neanderthalsis that wife was an acronym for a job description:
Washing
Ironing
Food
Entertainment

She wasn’t amused.

I have used Bell drycleaners a few times when I needed a bulk lot of shirts done before a trip. Rather expensive and didn’t do a great job. The Dial an Ironer vans have caught my eye a few times, but given the prices stated above, I wont be giving them my business any time soon.

Um, sorry about that last post. I hadn’t read the other comments beforehand so I didn’t realise weaponx had beaten me to the punch with that joke.

I know a really good ironing service – my mum. She’s been doing mine for years.

Hey weaponx… not a bad David imitation but not nearly verbose enough. Funny but.

I could ask my mum to do it for you? She is pretty good at the ironing and such, she even does it for free. I just dont think she will do it for you tho, not after that fight we had at christmas. Ironing is so mundane anyway, but can be quite rewarding, maybe you could hire one of those small asian women to help? They are pretty good at those things but untrustworthy, I wouldnt hire one, shifty little hands. Forget the ironing, just buy new clothes, it may be wasteful but hey at least its expensive!

I wonder if this is a viral for Dial an Ironer? Seen their vehicles parked all around and thought to myself “There’s someone giving it a go”. Don’t know anything about them but you could look them up in google and no doubt find the information you’re looking for.

and dial an ironer are more expensive than the cost of an iron and ironing board. at $2.50 per business shirt, or $0.50 per hanky, i will do it myself…

Yellow pages? I know this is a local canberra guide but I man c’mon, an ironing service, are you really that lazy you cannot google something like this?

You must have one of those magical yellow pages that also tells you how good the listed businesses are.

I just tried an ironing lady based northside in Cook ph 6161 7457. Might pickup/drop off depending where you live. Does a standard washing basket for $20, worked out to be a buck a shirt for me, great value.
