CAN YOU HELP?

Last week on HerCanberra, I shared the story of little Maya, who was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer at just three weeks of age.

Yesterday, her parents were dealt another blow…Maya’s dad, Mark, has been given two weeks’ notice from his job. He’s the family’s sole wage earner, supporting a family of four whose lives currently revolves around getting their baby through 43 weeks of chemotherapy.

Maya’s mum, Tash, had planned to return to her job after just three weeks, for financial reasons. When Maya was diagnosed with cancer, she organised to take twelve months unpaid maternity leave through her work, while receiving four months government paid maternity leave. That four months is nearly up.

I’m hoping that someone out there in the Canberra community might know of a job that could utilise Mark’s skills – he has 17 years ‘purchasing’ experience; procures and expedites goods; sources and evaluates suppliers’ products and negotiates pricing. He also has data analysis skills: SAP, Oracle, MYOB, Masterpack database, Microsoft Office.

If anyone wants a copy of his CV, email me at amanda@hercanberra.com.au

Let’s show them that there are businesses in the capital with a heart…
