According to this story from news.com.au, Canberra now has the most expensive apartments in the country for rent. The average weekly asking rent for apartments is now $420 per week, up from $370 per week at the end of the September quarter.
And apparently it’s going to get worse. (This is my sensationalist bit to pique your interest in this story).
So just how hard is it to rent an apartment in Canberra these days? Are the figures skewed from the newer luxury apartments asking megabuck rents, or have prices risen everywhere?
It is skew, because apartments in other cities (homes close to the city) are town houses etc here. So basically canberras low rent appartments are houses
The new apartments cost more, but try finding *anything* to rent in the inner North/Belco, with some back yard, for less than $400 a week. It doesn’t exist.
There are 4 houses in Downer for rent from 320-370 a week with backyards.
