John has sent these in:
A couple from some newly developed OLD negatives i discovered which have been in the family for almost 40 years.
These were taken by me through from the passenger seat of my brothers Kombi.
The camera was a hanimex 110 instamatic i received formy 11th birthday which dates these during 1976.
The top shot is looking down Barry Drive from Northbourne Ave towards Black Mountain – check out the complete lack of buildings and cars!
The bottom shot shows a rather sleepy Northbourne Avenue on a rainy Saturday afternoon taken at the Barry Drive Intersection – of note is the pre ACTION Bus in the drab brown livery, the complete lack of traffic lights to the North and the complete lack of cars : )
More to come.
Cheers
John

Can’t wait to see the others. These are fantastic!
A suggestion:
If you have a basic photo processing app on your computer, try doing some auto colour correction – it can make old photos really perk up and partially restore the colours that fade in old commercial prints.
Awesome, can’t wait to see the rest.
I kinda miss that sleepy old town.

I remember all the visits to our friends in Watson as a kid from Sydney. The old Phillip Av / Federal Hwy junction was still almost the middle of nowhere in the 80s. If I remember correctly, not even with a street light. The keep right sign on the traffic island there when it was still a T-junction always stood out to me back then, you never saw things like that in Sydney
Great pics
