Chief Minister Stanhope is running a good news story about a local tech success; “Funnelback“.

The cause of celebration is the opening of a new office, apparently proof that Canberra is the “knowledge Capital of Australia”:

On 6 March, the Funnelback search service for the Australian Government’s main website http://www.australia.gov.au/ and approximately 50 other Commonwealth agency websites was moved from a data centre in the USA to the TransACT data centre. “This is a significant achievement for the ACT and a huge vote of confidence in our capacity to deliver world-class IT services,” Mr Stanhope said.

Funnelback’s clients include the Australian Stock Exchange, Westpac Banking Corporation, ABC, CareerOne, ninemsn, NCR Canada, Staffordshire University and many Australian and State Government websites. Funnelback is the search technology that powers many ACT Government websites, including Canberra Connect.

Congratulations to them.
