Chatting to a motorcycle enthusiast last night he informed me that he was trying to get a social gathering going for all the various Canberra motorcycle riders and had already got a few meeting for coffee every Monday night at Tilley’s in Lyneham

So it got me thinking – how many motorcycle clubs do we have in Canberra?

So far I was able to come up with the following:

Girls on the Move (Got’M)
The Canberra District Ducati Club
The ACT BMW Motorcycle Club
Veteran Vintage & Classic Motorcycle Club of ACT
Frontline Tourers ACT
The Ulyssess Club

Feel free to add any others you can think of.

The Goldwing Assocation has a local chapter.

The Military Brotherhood MMC (MB) is a military motorcycle club for serving and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Forces and Commonwealth forces, their families, friends and their supporter base. The MB is a club that will not discriminate between male and female members whether service members or supporters.

The MB’s mission is to provide camaraderie, mateship and firm support. The MB was raised to provide essential support to ex-serving and serving Veterans through a partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), the Returned Services League (RSL), and other Ex Services Organisations (ESO), just as the Vietnam Veterans do, but more for our upcoming young Veterans.

Don’t forget the DSMRA – Dual Sport Motorcycle Riders Association. (dirt bikes)

The Struggletown Tourers, while technically based in NSW, have a fair few ACT members. Website is at http://www.struggletowntourers.com.au (warning, seems to be horribly broken under Firefox, works OK in IE)

no bike at the moment, but some years back i was on cte for MRA (motorcycle riders association) in canberra, and did the radio show on 2SSS – a hoot that was!

hal caston was one of the senior exec, and as far as i know he still runs/owns TJ’s tyres in braddon – dunno if he still has club affiliations? some of the ‘stay upright’ trainers around town also has MRA connections.

is MRA still a viable organistaion?

Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick with the club thing guys. I’ve changed the wording now. Hope to be able to make it one day.

would be interested to know who Joe Canberran was talking to. I am one of the people behind the coffee nights at Tillys on mondays as is lurch. While there has been a bit of a saga behind it the rough history is that it was started as a coffee night in civic organised from http://www.netrider.net.au . it has since changed a bit with a lot of debate on http://www.canberrariders.net to be at tillys at 6pm. its not about getting the various motorcycle clubs together as is mentioned in the OP but getting riders together.

We’re the ones that do the coffee at Tilley’s 😀
