Something a lot of Australian music buffs appreciate is the inclusion of that distinct sound of an Aussie accent partnered with seriously noteworthy musical talent. Dylan Hekimain has found a way to highlight both of these in his three track EP ‘The Ocean EP’.

Dylan’s, ‘The Ocean EP’ embodies Australian music with bold percussion, dramatic harmonies and a youthful energy that will have you tapping your feet and air-guitaring in appreciation of his chilled out sounds. Throwing in a little hip-hop, the song ‘Battle’ is a diverse mix of beautiful acoustic-folk, deep bass guitar and perfect harmonies with guest artists adding layers to the track that only make the song that much better. Dylan has an enviable way with lyrics, so relatable that many listeners will appreciate his songs on a whole other level – an appreciation for the feeling captured in his words, perfectly complimented by the soothing harmonies.

Obviously adept to live performances, Dylan’s on stage presence is a treat to witness, so effortlessly bringing the room to attention with music that deserves nothing less. While his recordings are of a great standard and the work, editing and perfecting have ensured the quality of his recordings, nothing quite compares to watching him up close and personal, where I’ve been amazed by songs well written, even better performed.

Winning both MAMA’s Best Youth Artist and Best Live Performer 2013 awards, Dylan is an unmistakable talent in Canberra’s music scene and will no doubt leave his mark among folk-enthusiasts Australia wide.

There is the option of paying a small amount for the EP, and in the interest of supporting local artists I purchased my EP for $5, a small price to pay for such incredible music.
