So it’s getting warmer and the last thing you feel like doing is dressing up right? Fear not: Today we have for you an excessively casual outfit perfect for pretending you are still a teenager or loitering around the skate park eating McDonalds.

This graphic tee is perfect for injecting a bit of colour and personality into your casual wear. You can dress it down with thongs and denim cut-offs for a day at the beach, or go a little more rock chick with a leather shirt and ankle boots for a night out. I actually found this tee in the kids’ section of Vinnies Mitchell, and I cannot stress this enough: if you are a relatively small person you will fit into some of the clothes from the kids section. And kids get all the best clothes! Trust me, half of my cool t-shirt collection was found in the kids’ section at an op shop so it’s definitely worth a look, you never know what hidden gems you might find!

The black denim skirt is a staple piece and will go with anything, Again, it can be dressed down with thongs or sneakers or dressed up with heels, sandals or boots.

The flannie is purely an accessory, although it will come in handy if you get cold or need a makeshift picnic blanket to sit on! These are a dime a dozen at op shops so it shouldn’t be a problem finding one.

Lastly, a pair of converse skate shoes complete our casual look. And man are they comfortable – it’s like walking on clouds! I cannot recommend the whole sneaker trend enough; seriously get on it while you can!

And there you have it: Your complete casual street look inspired by skater style, all for only $21!

Let me know in the comments – Would you wear this urban street look? Have you found anything good at the op shops lately?

Hi Heather, this is a great article! There are indeed some amazing op shops in North Canberra! Not trying to take away the wonderful work the other op shops are doing as everyone is doing good things for great causes, but just to add to the mix: Another Chance Op Shop in Scullin has been a little gem for op shop customers for the last 20 years. Speaking of summer sales, this op shop has 50% off ALL clothing until the end of February 2015!

I have volunteered here for the last ten years and I constantly hear customers say we are the cheapest in the Belconnen region. Not sure if you have visited the shop; if not, do pop in one day. It’s located at Scullin shops, Ross Smith Crescent. It is open from 10am-4.30pm Monday to Friday, and 10am-1pm on Saturday.

Thanks Alexandra – I’m sure you are still very cool! And I personally think people should wear what they want no matter their size anyway 🙂 But if you’re into more of a worky look these days maybe this one would be more down your alley – http://the-riotact.com/canberra-op-shop-guide-nine-to-five-style/128282

This is really cool, I like it a lot. I would have definitely worn it a few years ago when I was a bit cooler (working in politics made me boring) and when I was much skinnier. Looks awesome though – great finds.
