Where other cities have writer’s festivals it seems we’re having a reader’s one.

“I am excited to announce that tickets for the Canberra Readers’ Festival, which will be held on Saturday 22 September 2012 at The Playhouse, can now be purchased online through Canberra Ticketing or in person at the box office at the Canberra Theatre Centre,” said Karen Hansen, Acting Director, Libraries ACT.

“The Canberra Readers’ Festival entitled For the Love of Reading, promises to be an entertaining and energetic event for locals as well as visitors to the region.

“We are also thrilled to have ABC radio presenter and ACT National Year of Reading Ambassador, Louise Maher, as our MC for the day as well as a number of high profile Australian authors participating in the Festival.”

Authors participating in the Canberra Readers’ Festival are:

    — Bryce Courtenay
    — Kate Grenville
    — Melina Marchetta
    — Anita Heiss
    — Hazel Edwards
    — Kel Robertson

For a minute, I was terribly excited about the Canberra Raider’s Festival.

Jokes were lined up, trolling posts were prepared, armour was donned. I then realised it said “Reader’s”. Bugger 🙁
