Canberra Rep's 2013 season - Make a date!

Canberra Rep launched its 2013 season on Friday night – the plays are:

1) Calendar Girls by Tim Firth, directed by Catherine Hill – auditions 16-18 November 2012, performs 14 Feb-2 March 2013.

Based on the Helen Mirren/Julie Waters film, two friends come up with the idea for a fund-raising calendar with a saucy difference – but when everything is revealed, can their friendship survive?

2) Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas, directed by Duncan Ley – auditions 8-9 December 2012, performs 11-27 April 2013.

Dylan Thomas’ classic play for voices comes to vibrant life as the members of the small Welsh fishing village of Llareggub dream and obsess over love, lust, hopes and fears…

3) Jazz Garters: 4 – Custom Made In Canberra , directed by Cate Clelland – Auditions end January 2013, performs 20 June-7 July

Variety returns to theatre 3 with the best local performers in sketches, songs, dances, anything and everything to amuse and delight.

4) Don Parties On by David Williamson, directed by Aarne Neeme – Auditions TBA, perfoms 1-17 August

Williamson returns to Don and Kath’s house, 41 years later, as the 2010 election rages on TV and the friends re-ignite old arguments, contemplate their lives and the young radicals they used to be.

5) The Book of Everything by Richard Tulloch, directed by Jarrad West – Auditions 1-2 June, performs 12-28 September

A family charmer as 9 year old Thomas Klopper records everything going on around him – the fish in the canal, the local witch, the beautiful girl with the leather leg, the surprise appearances of Jesus around the house, and the way he must act when confronted with fear and wrong.
6) The Fox on the Fairway by Ken Ludwig, directed by Liz Bradley – Auditions TBA, performs 21 November-7 December
A riotous Christmas farce as two rival golf clubs do battle on the course and shenanigans involving an engagement ring, a very expensive Ming vase, wives both current and ex take place in the clubhouse.
7) Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling, directed by Jordan Best – Auditions 26 and 27 October 2013, performs 13 Feb-1 March 2014.

Six strong southern women prepare to face the world with guts, determination and the right shade of hair dye and nail polish.
