Canberra Short Film Festival Opens Tomorrow

Opening tomorrow night is the 12th Canberra Short Film Festival. Screenings, workshops, filmmaking forums and networking events are included on the program. The Festival runs from 18 – 20th October.

Films by school aged filmmakers screen Thursday 18th at 6pm in the University of Canberra Shortlist
Canberran filmmakers screen Thursday 18th at 8pm in the EoR Media Canberra Region Shortlist
Talented young filmmakers from around Australia screen their films on Friday 19th at 6pm in the BMA Magazine Youth Shortlist
The Best Australian filmmaking talent screens on Friday 19th at 8pm in the Silver Sun Pictures National Shortlist.
These screenings are at the National Museum of Australia. Tix $10, Ages 15+

The Finals Screening, which includes the best from each of the above screenings is on Saturday 20th Oct at 8pm at Dendy Canberra Centre. Tix are $15, Ages 15+

Workshops include The Process of Directing with Cate Shortland (Somersault), Get the Script Right with Matthew Marshall and HDV With 35mm Lenses – the latest technology presented by cinematographer Brook Rushton.

For any one considering entering short film competitions, the free forum “Cracking Tropfest” is an absolute must. Join 2007 Tropfest Finalist Simon Weaving for a discussion of his film ‘The Story of Ned’, his experience as a Tropfest finalist and insider secrets on how to improve your film’s chances at Australia’s most popular short film competition.
