Canberra writer/actors/film makers, it is time to get to work! The Canberra Short Film Festival is calling for entries!

Think big and film short – that’s the cry going out to ACT filmmakers, young and old, experienced or first timers, as the Canberra Short Film Festival launches its official call for entries for 2013 from Cockington Green – the gardens where short becomes truly epic.

With $5000 worth of prizes up for grabs and a bevy of celebrity judges choosing the films to be screened, filmmakers have until July 15 to be a part of the event.

Festival co-ordinator Laura White is expecting about 300 films to be submitted by the closing date. “Last year we had over 250 films from around the world” she said, “and the short film form – under 20 minutes – is such a powerful and direct way to tell stories and make a point about the world. We have different categories for filmmakers to choose from – so we welcome documentaries, music videos, and all types of creative and narrative short films. So, if you’ve made something in the last 18 months, we’d love to see it. And if you have an idea for a film you’ve been meaning to make – here’s that deadline you need to get you moving. You have 6 weeks to submit.”
