New.com.au have a tale of derring do with a Canberra man walking 25 km through a blizzard in Kosciuszko National Park to bring rescuers to his wife and child in a stuck car:

The 37-year-old father, his 39-year-old wife and their 18-month-old son spent the night in the car before the man set off on foot to get help on yesterday morning.

Police said he was able to raise the alarm about 2pm when his mobile phone came into range.
His wife and child were eventually found in the car about 4.30pm yesterday.

“Even though they were a little cold and running low on nappies and baby formula, they appeared to be suffering no ill effects,” Cootamundra Local Area Commander Superintendent Peter Wanczura said.
