The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Canberra and Marist College’s Patrick Mills has made the US NBA’s draft, being picked up by the Portland Trailblazers.

Being picked 55th out of 60 places experts were surprised he dropped so law in the draft, not helped by a recent broken hand. But having made the draft he’s still in the game with a chance to shine.

Good on him. I think he’s the first Canberran to actually make the draft… huge acheivement. I will be watching the Blazers closely next season.

Ha! Awesome! I’m a Blazer fan and live in Portland. The Blazers have a great team. I hope Mills doesn’t get thrown down to the d-league. Considering that Portland does need a third point guard and are not afraid in playing rookies, he stands a good chance getting some minutes on a playoff caliber team.
